Simply Taiwan

Living in Japan has afforded me easy access to Taiwan and I can easily say that the best thing about Taiwan is definitely the people. Hands down Taiwanese people are some of the most intelligent , open minded and progressive in Asia. I have been to Taiwan over 25 times but I don’t have much to say except that night markets are amazing, the country is beautiful and is great for shoe shopping, bubble tea, massages ,electronics and suitcase shopping.

JAMAICAN PASSPORTS - Visa is required. Passport copy, photo, official bank statement showing more than 1500USD(varies), Flight and hotel information.

Solo traveling to Taiwan is definitely okay. The country is super safe and easy to navigate.

Traveling while black can sometimes be a bit scary but Taiwan is no problem. Taiwanese people won’t treat you in any particular way because of your skin color and won’t assume what kind of person you may be. You can also find African women who will style / braid black hair at a good cost.

Taiwan is great for nature tourism and It’s also know for its amazing night markets. If you are into partying / clubbing and loads of excitement then Taiwan is not the place for you.

I am yet to visit all parts of Taiwan but Hualien, Keelung, Kaohsiung and Taipei are great places to visit.

Eating in Taiwan

Taiwan is known as a popular spot for Vegetarians. They do have a lot of fruits and soups that don’t have meat but you have to be careful to make sure the stock / broth wasn’t made from animal products.

Of course, I have problems eating in Taiwan because I am not a fan of noodles or any foods similar to Chinese food. I think this comes from getting food poisoning in China. Read ….
